Watermelon Margarita

A long tall version of a summer margarita; with only 105 calories.
Happy 4th of July!

Watermelon Margarita
Serves 6
Recipe from Cooking Light

2 teaspoons sugar
1 lime wedge
3-1/2 cups cubed seeded watermelon
1/2 cup tequila
2 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon Triple Sec or other orange flavored liqueur
Lime wedges or watermelon balls (optional)
1. Place 2 teaspoons sugar in a saucer.  Rub the rims of 6 glasses with 1 lime wedge; spin rim of each glass in sugar to coat.  Set prepared glasses aside.
2. Combine watermelon and next 4 ingredients (through Triple Sec) in a blender; process until smooth.  Fill each prepared glass with 1/2 cup crushed ice.  Add 1/2 cup margarita to each glass.  Garnish with lime wedges or melon balls, if desired.
Note:  I added an additional  1/4 cup of tequila to the mix.

  1. Oh my, Alexis would just love this. I'll have to surprise her with it at the pool some other day, as it's Sunday and I am flat out of Tequila.

  2. Oh my this looks wonderful! It's raining here today so we get some relief from the heat, and it looks like we have to sit inside all day and drink…hehehe! So now I'm headed over to check out your other drink recipes!

  5. VelvaYou have made a killer margarita! Now that watermelons are plentiful here and being sold by the hundreds even on the side of the road, there is no excuse for me not to make this for the fourth or any old day for that matter!

  6. Hi, this looks lovely and refreshing. I shared your photo with my husband, he loves to make his own margarita. He said he will definitely try it.Thank you for visiting my site and following it.You got an awesome website yourself. I was drooling over the bruschetta with havarti and figs, really gorgeous.

  7. The term mouthwatering just doesn't do that drink sufficient justice! I would like for it to be hot all the time just so I would have an excuse to mix one of those margaritas up 🙂
